Custom Theme Park Products Case Study: Designing a Safe and Premium Light-Up Mascot Bee for U.S. Theme Parks
Custom Theme Park Products

Wing Design: From Wire-Edged Stockings to Embroidered Organza
Our initial idea was to use nylon stocking fabric reinforced with wire edging to shape the wings. However, after considering child safety, we realized that the wire might be pulled out and handled by children, creating a potential safety risk.
To address this concern, we switched to organza fabric with embroidered edging, eliminating the need for wire reinforcement. We also refined the color scheme, moving from yellow to elegant silver organza. Delicate embroidery was added to the wings, enhancing their visual appeal while creating a more durable and premium finish.
Lighting Design: From Touch Activation to a Manual Switch
To make the bee mascot’s abdomen light up, we initially considered a touch-activated lighting system. However, we identified a potential issue during transportation: products rubbing or touching one another could accidentally trigger the lights, draining the batteries before the products reached the customer.
To prevent this, we ultimately switched to a manual on/off switch. This solution helps prevent accidental activation during shipping and helps preserve battery life, ensuring the lighting function is more reliable when the products arrive at their destination.
